Clinical Trials

Researchers are always testing new ways to treat cancer and improve healthcare. These tests of new therapies are called “clinical trials.” Before the FDA FDAThe Federal Food and Drug Administration—the department of the government that regulates all drugs and medical treatments, reviewing them for their safety and effectiveness. Closewill approve a treatment for use in the general population, it must be studied in clinical trials. Many clinical trials are looking at more ways to use molecular targeted therapies—both in combination with other treatments and by themselves.

Your doctor may talk to you about taking part in a clinical trial either before or after you start treatment for your cancer.
